StoryMill Terms of Use

Welcome to StoryMill.

StoryMill is a product of Mizaru Software Ltd ("Mizaru Software", "we", "our", or "us"). These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of the StoryMill website, applications, and related services (collectively, the "Service").

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the Service.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account and use the Service on behalf of yourself or a child.

If you use StoryMill for or with a child, you confirm that you are the child's parent, guardian, teacher, or otherwise authorised adult.

2. Your Account

You are responsible for:

  • Maintaining the security of your account.
  • Keeping your login credentials confidential.
  • All activity that occurs under your account.

You must notify us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.

3. User Content

You may submit text, story ideas, character names, prompts, images, feedback, and other materials to the Service ("User Content").

You retain ownership of your User Content.

By submitting User Content, you grant Mizaru Software Ltd a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, process, reproduce, display, and use that User Content solely for the purposes of providing, maintaining, securing, and improving StoryMill.

You are responsible for ensuring that your User Content:

  • Is lawful.
  • Does not infringe another person's intellectual property rights.
  • Does not contain malicious software.
  • Does not contain abusive, hateful, defamatory, explicit, or otherwise inappropriate content.
  • Is suitable for use in a family-friendly storytelling service.

We may remove content that we reasonably believe violates these Terms.

4. AI-Generated Content

StoryMill may use artificial intelligence technologies to help create stories, illustrations, titles, descriptions, or other content.

AI-generated content may:

  • Contain errors or inaccuracies.
  • Be similar to content generated for other users.
  • Require review before being shared, printed, published, or distributed.

You are responsible for reviewing AI-generated content before using it.

We do not guarantee that AI-generated content will be accurate, original, suitable, or free from third-party rights.

5. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its software, branding, design, layout, features, and functionality, is owned by Mizaru Software Ltd or its licensors and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

Except as expressly permitted by these Terms, you may not:

  • Copy, reproduce, or redistribute the Service.
  • Reverse engineer or attempt to extract the source code of the Service.
  • Sell, resell, or commercially exploit the Service without permission.
  • Remove proprietary notices or branding.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service unlawfully.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to systems, data, or accounts.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service.
  • Upload viruses, malware, or harmful code.
  • Use the Service to create illegal, harmful, abusive, hateful, explicit, or exploitative content.
  • Use the Service in a way that could harm children or vulnerable people.

7. Availability and Changes

We aim to provide a reliable Service, but we do not guarantee that it will always be available, uninterrupted, or error-free.

We may modify, suspend, or discontinue all or part of the Service at any time.

8. Third-Party Services

StoryMill may rely on third-party providers for hosting, authentication, payments, analytics, artificial intelligence, image generation, email delivery, or other functionality.

We are not responsible for third-party services, their availability, or their terms and policies.

9. Disclaimer

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we exclude all warranties, representations, and conditions, whether express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Mizaru Software Ltd shall not be liable for:

  • Indirect or consequential losses.
  • Loss of profits.
  • Loss of data.
  • Loss of goodwill.
  • Business interruption.

Our total liability arising from or relating to your use of the Service shall not exceed £100.

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability where it would be unlawful to do so.

11. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service if you breach these Terms or if we reasonably believe that such action is necessary to protect the Service, our users, or Mizaru Software Ltd.

You may stop using the Service at any time.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time.

The updated version will be posted on the Service and will become effective when published, unless stated otherwise.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

Any disputes arising under or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
